DADS, PARTNERS, & DOULAS

I am often asked, “do doulas replace dads?" Great question! No, they do not. I come from the perspective that dads & birth partners bring a special element to birth. They are there to protect, guard, love, encourage, and support women in labor. They are not designed to be labor “coaches.” Most of the time when dads and partners are also supported by a doula they are freed up mentally and physical to actively participate in labor. Their confidence increases, anxiety levels decrease, and they are much more satisfied in their part of the birth experience.
